Three catlike figures in black, cream and red form a playful family of imaginary ceramic objects. A unique work from Sarin’s 100-image contribution to Bright Moments’ Tokyo AI Collection, it brings her interest in craft into dialogue with Russian Constructivism and absurdist humor.

Bright Moments presented Kogei Kats as a response to Japanese kōgei, or craft, and to Sarin’s potteryGAN practice. The artist’s description also invokes Russian Constructivism and the absurdist writer Daniil Kharms. In this work, the limited palette, graphic decoration and gently improbable characters bring those references together. The series comprises 100 distinct images selected by Sarin, with each issued as a unique token.
The Tokyo AI Collection brought eleven artists working with AI into Bright Moments’ exhibition and minting program in May 2023. Sarin’s contribution shows how an artist established during the earlier GAN period could carry a recognizable sensibility into this wider presentation of AI art. The series connects her longstanding interest in domestic objects and craft to the character and collectibility of an NFT edition. Its significance lies in that continuity of artistic judgment and visual language, expressed here through a humorous portrait of imaginary objects.
