Made in PC Paintbrush in 1987, the work carries Mullican’s interest in rhythmic marks and ambiguous forms into a digital composition.
Provenance
Posthumous edition released by Feral File in collaboration with the Estate of Lee Mullican, 23 March 2023.

This tension between an overall field and recognizable fragments connects the work to Mullican’s wider interest in images that move between abstraction and suggestion.
Created in 1987 using PC Paintbrush, LMGU18.PCX takes its title from the original computer filename. Feral File issued it in 2023 in the exhibition LeeMullican.PCX, curated by Anika Meier. The collected token is edition 17 of 20.
The edition presents a fixed image. Its published display was prepared from the surviving digital material with reference to Mullican’s photographs of his screen. The publisher describes removing surrounding white margins while retaining the graphic content.
