Sarah Meyohas (b. 1991) is a French-American artist working across photography, film, performance and digital media. Bitchcoin (2015) was an early experiment in art-backed cryptocurrency. Her later works use artificial intelligence, optics and physical materials to explore how images are made and exchanged.

Sarah Meyohas brings the production of images into contact with the production of value. Flowers, mirrors, financial markets and machine learning recur throughout a practice that moves between physical objects and digital systems. Her work asks how something becomes desirable, how beauty is judged, and what happens when those judgments are translated into data or money.
Born in New York in 1991, Meyohas studied finance and international relations at the University of Pennsylvania before completing an MFA at Yale in 2015. That year she launched Bitchcoin, a cryptocurrency backed by her photographic work. In Stock Performance (2016), she turned stock-market movements into marks on canvas, bringing trading and image-making into the same performance.
For Cloud of Petals, filmed in 2016 and exhibited in 2017, sixteen workers photographed 100,000 rose petals at the former Bell Labs in New Jersey. Their individual decisions formed a dataset from which artificial petals could be generated. A separate group of preserved petals later became the backing for the 2021 Ethereum release of Bitchcoin. Infinite Petals develops the project into moving fields of flowers that never existed in nature.
Other bodies of work approach perception through optical means. The photographs in Speculations use facing mirrors to create apparent passages into limitless space. Holography and reflected light extend this investigation beyond the flat image. The appeal of these works lies partly in the tension between their immediate visual beauty and the systems responsible for producing it.
In 2023, the Centre Pompidou acquired works relating to Bitchcoin and Cloud of Petals. Meyohas participated in Infinite Images: The Art of Algorithms at the Toledo Museum of Art and Desert X in 2025. Her work connects the history of conceptual art and experiments in value with contemporary questions about artificial intelligence and digital ownership.
