Goodchild used reaction–diffusion, a simulation of interacting chemicals, to explore how simple local rules can generate complex behavior. Each output combines selected reaction settings with its own starting geometry.

Created during 21–23 May 2022; this token was minted on 23 May 2022.

The canvas is a grid whose cells contain varying amounts of two simulated chemicals. At each step they react and diffuse into neighboring cells. Goodchild selected combinations of diffusion, feed and removal rates that produce sustained patterns, then allowed those settings to vary across the canvas or over time.
This output uses a triangular seed, the Aura palette and a horizontal transition between the parameter sets named Intricate and Curls. Noise dithering is disabled for this token. The software continues calculating after its preview stage; there is no programmed final frame.
