This 1950 color photograph predates the earliest dated Ben Laposky Oscillon prints from 1952, placing Hirsh’s work at the very beginning of oscilloscope-based art.
Provenance
Stephen White, whose Stephen White Gallery acquired a portion of Hirsh’s estate

A chain of rounded red pulses rises diagonally through broad blue-green curves, while softer pink and white traces cross a warm amber field. The overlapping oscilloscope waveforms create a sense of depth: the red signal provides a steady rhythm set against the wider sweeps and branching intersections of the blue-green traces.
