Nested angular bands in violet, pale pink, gray and red expand and contract around a diagonal seam. Their shifting intersections suggest a passage into depth while retaining the flatness of colored shapes.

Intersections #10 organizes color around a diagonal running from upper left to lower right. Violet, pale pink, light gray and lavender bands form nested corners, punctuated by a red center in the preview. As the software runs, their changing widths and alignments make the image appear to fold, open or recede. The diagonal divides the composition into two related but differently colored halves.
Rozendaal’s description pairs opposing actions: inward and outward, shrinking and growing, splitting and merging. These relationships give the work its movement without prescribing a single final composition. The animation is generated live and responds to the proportions of its screen.
Intersections was released through Art Blocks on 21 October 2022 as a series of 300 unique works. Its spare geometry connects with Rozendaal’s longer practice of treating the browser as a space for autonomous moving images. In the collection, it precedes the related investigations of rhythm, space and apparent weight in Passing, Twist, Rooms and Balance.
