Complete August 1966 issue, vol. 15, no. 8. Digital facsimile from Bitsavers.

The August 1966 issue awards first prize to Frieder Nake. His square-based winning drawing appears on the cover and page 8; three additional Nake drawings appear on pages 8 and 12. The contest section, pages 8–13, places these alongside analog-computer patterns, geometric constructions, and plotting experiments by other contributors.
Gerald Strang’s “The Computer in Musical Composition,” pages 16–17, distinguishes computer-assisted score production from synthesized sound. It discusses Hiller and Isaacson’s work at the University of Illinois and Max Mathews’s work at Bell Telephone Laboratories, placing visual and musical experimentation within the same issue.
The gallery includes the front cover, the complete contest feature on pages 8–13, and Strang’s article on pages 16–17.
