The sixth annual contest awards first prize to Kerry Strand and Gary Craigmile’s Hummingbird. Sharry Langdale’s introduction on page 8 explicitly identifies Computer Technique Group (CTG) in Tokyo as an example of the collaborative groups forming around computer art.
Seven CTG works appear across six pages: Star Kennedy and Monroe in the Net (16), Return to Square (17), Tragedy of Seven (19), March of Polygons (22), Deformation of Sharaku (25), and Upheaval Collection (26). Titles here follow the magazine. Its division of credits between idea, design, programming, and data provides useful evidence of CTG’s collaborative practice.
The gallery includes the front cover, the complete contest section and contributor directory on pages 8–27, and Daniel T. Langdale’s “Is the Computer an Artist’s Paintbrush?” on page 31. Page 27 also carries a contemporary announcement for Cybernetic Serendipity.
