Made for Bright Moments’ NFT ART CDMX in 2022, the series draws on Chapultepec, the Mexico City park where the artist’s grandfather painted. Its dotted surface also recalls the small sprinkles, or chochitos, coating the Garibaldi pastries sold by El Globo. The algorithm combines circle packing and quadtrees to place non-overlapping dots inside shapes generated from points and lines.
The live version builds the image progressively and can take several minutes to finish. Once rendering is complete, pressing “p” exports a scalable SVG. The digital work thus retains a connection to drawing and print through its construction and its available vector form.
